York Enrichment Childcare Centre is a small private daycare centre dedicated to providing your child with enriched learning experiences.

Philosophy

It is the philosophy of York Enrichment Childcare Centre and of all the staff that every child must be cared for in such a way that the child feels safe, accepted and loved. The staff consistently maintains a warm and supportive environment for the children. In fact, the education team realizes that these needs must be met completely to maximize the benefits from York Enrichment Childcare Centre's enriched and versatile curriculum. A content child who feels safe, accepted and loved in his environment will learn more than if those basic needs are not met.

In addition to creating a safe and nurturing environment, the teachers use a wholistic approach that encompasses all the areas of child development. Daily learning opportunities are presented to stimulate the developmental areas of gross motor, fine motor, social, emotional, language, math, science, and creative arts. By including all of these developmental areas, the teachers constantly reinforce the concepts and skills being taught. Your child not only learns information, but also creates strong memories about the information. This builds the pathways for learning later in life too.

Nelli Hooper: Founder and Director of York Enrichment Childcare Centre

Nelli has worked in the education field for almost 20 years. She holds her certification in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and she also graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Nelli also attended performing arts schools as a child in Europe and as a teen in Toronto. She understands the importance of an enriched curriculum that addresses all areas of a child's development.

Unlike the majority of childcare centres out there, a holder of an Early Childhood Education Certificate founded York Enrichment Childcare Centre. Nelli opened her day care out of a love of children and a desire to provide quality childcare in the Oak Ridges, Richmond Hill area. She has had a varied and exciting career. She has worked as a daycare provider in several centres in and around Toronto as well as in her own home. She has developed programs for children at risk and taught parenting workshops. She has also had supervisory roles in which she guided and evaluated ECE students. With a flair for the arts and with a multicultural sensitive curriculum, Nelli has created a warm, nurturing centre that goes beyond expectations.

The Education Team

You can have confidence in the staff, knowing that they are all highly trained individuals who work together as a team to bring the best possible programs to your child. They have devoted their lives to the caring for and teaching of children. All the teachers and even the assistants have training in Early Childhood Education. The Ministry does not require assistants to have any training, but Nelli insists on it. The work that these teachers do is extraordinary.
